Research Help

What is research help?

Research help includes help with choosing an appropriate research topic, searching for sources, evaluating sources, and citing sources. You may seek research help when you are completing a research assignment, such as a research paper, research presentation, annotated bibliography, bibliography, literature review, original research, and more. For full information about our Reference Services Program, please see our Reference Services page.

Ways to get help:

Subject librarians

There are subject librarians for each subject and major. To find your subject librarian and their contact information, view our Staff Directory. Send them an email to request a Research Consultation Appointment or get help via email.

Research Consultation Appointments

You can get research help in an in person or Zoom Research Consultation Appointment. You can fill out our Request a Consultation Form or email your subject librarian directly to get started.

Email

Send a message to our general reference email, AskGutman@jefferson.libanswers.com, to get help via email.

Chat

Get help via chat anywhere on our library website. Look for the blue “Ask Us @ Gutman Library” buttons and tabs to start a chat.

Information Desk

You can get help in person at the library at the Information Desk. The Information Desk is located on the Main Floor of the Gutman Library, across from the entrance. To contact the librarian on call, ring the doorbell located on the Information Desk and a librarian will come to the desk to help you. Librarians are on call and ready to help from 9 am until 4 pm, Monday - Friday.
