Article processing charges (APCs) are waived for Jefferson authors. The submitting/corresponding author must be from Jefferson. When submitting the manuscript through the ACS Paragon Plus system, the submitting author must select their Jefferson affiliation from the institution field drop-down in their profile.
What is the timeframe for this agreement?
This agreement waives article processing charges (APC) for open access publishing in any ACS journal for manuscripts submitted by Jefferson authors between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2025.
What if I submitted a manuscript in 2023 before learning of this agreement?
Please email Elizabeth Ten Have and we will contact ACS Publications on your behalf.
What if only some of the authors are from Jefferson?
The only requirement is that the submitting or corresponding author be from Jefferson.
What if the ACS journal I am submitting to is not fully open access?
All ACS journals have an open access publishing option, and this agreement covers all ACS journals.
How to Submit a Manuscript through ACS Paragon Plus
Step 1: Select Thomas Jefferson University as your institution at the time of submission
The submitting author MUST select their Jefferson affiliation at the time an article is submitted. This can be done by the submitting author when they edit their author profile in the ACS Paragon Plus Submission System. Note that the name of the institution may appear differently on the manuscript from the naming convention on the submission system drop-down list.
Step 2: Complete the Journal Publishing Agreement (JPA) once your manuscript is accepted
When your manuscript is accepted, you will receive an email with a link to complete the JPA.
Step 3: Choose "yes" to publish open access
Once you click the link in Step 2, choose "yes" to publish open access. Jefferson Libraries will receive a message to approve your request, and once approved, you will be notified via email.
