Write-N-Cite Support Ending

Last November, it was announced that support for the Write-N-Cite (WnC) writing tool add-in for Microsoft Word will be ending. By the end of 2024 all users should upgrade to RefWorks Citation Manger (RCM) add-in. Starting in April, 2024 users will no longer be able to access WnC installer download page on RefWorks.

Write-N-Cite: By April 2025, Users Will No Longer Be Able to Use WnC

Write-N-Cite (WNC) is an add-on for Microsoft Word that enables you to run a simplified version of RefWorks inside of Word. Write-n-Cite enables you to access and cite your references while working in Word, even if you are currently offline.

Compatibility:

Windows:

  • Write-N-Cite for Word, 32-bit version
    For Windows 8.1 and 10
    Supports Word 2016, Word 2013 and Word 2010
  • Write-N-Cite for Word, 64-bit version
    For Windows 8.1 and 10
    Supports Word 2016, Word 2013 and Word 2010

Mac:

  • Write-N-Cite for Word, 32-bit version
    For OS X 10.12 (Sierra), 10.11 (El Capitan), 10.10 (Yosemite), 10.9 (Mavericks), 10.8 (Mountain Lion), 10.7 (Lion) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
    Supports Word 2011 and Word 2008. 
  • For Word 2016 and above, install RefWorks Citation Manager (RCM) directly into Microsoft Word via the Word Store.
